Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during treatment?

Your skin will be cleansed and prepped before your microneedling treatment. Specific serums will be chosen and Platelet Rich Plasma can also be applied to take your treatment to the next level. Microneedling involves a pen or stamping device composed of tiny needles that create microchannels in your skin allowing your body to repair the sites by creating more collagen and elastin. Adding serums to the treatment allows for products to have greater penetration into the skin enhancing their results.

When will I see results?
Results are visible in a couple of weeks and can last for months. It is recommended to get a series of treatments (typically 3 or 4 ) spaced out once a month or every other month for maximal results. Once desired results are obtained a maintenance treatment can be done every few months if needed.
How much downtime will I experience?
Each patient is different but you can expect zero to minimal downtime. Risks include redness, minor bruising, and swelling that can be alleviated with ice packs. You should apply sunscreen daily to avoid harmful sun exposure.
Who is not a candidate for microneedling?
  1. Active acne, especially inflammatory lesions.
  2. Active herpes or other infections in the treatment area, including warts.
  3. Moderate-to-severe chronic skin diseases such as eczema or psoriasis.
  4. Patients with a history of keloidal scarring.
  5. Immunosuppressed patients, including patients on chemotherapy.
Is microneedling painful?
There are different depths used depending on treatment area and concern. The procedure should not be painful at superficial depths and a numbing cream will be applied before treatment when a deeper penetration is required to obtain greater results. Most patients describe the feeling as warm or scratchy and tolerate the procedure well.
What are the benefits of microneedling?
Microneedling helps your body to increase collagen and elastin leading to firmer, smoother skin. It can also help to diminish large pores, wrinkles, loose skin, mild scars, skin discoloration, and stretch marks. Microneedling can increase the overall appearance of your skin, patients often describe their skin as “glowing” after receiving treatments.
Is microneedling only used on the face?
No. The great thing about microneedling is that it can be used on almost any part of your body where you have skincare concerns, including the scalp where patients have hair loss from Alopecia.

From the Practioner

Kristen Drenga

My journey to becoming an advanced practice nurse specializing in anesthesia and aesthetics started at the early age of 14 when I began working in a retirement community. For over 25 years now I have committed my life to take care of others and I love it. Most of my career has been spent in the intensive care setting and providing anesthesia to operative patients.

Just like every story has two sides so does my passion for providing care to others. I have always been in love with beauty, fashion, and the creative process. My dream career and goal in life have led me to merge the two sides of myself into the practitioner I am today.
